Fabrication 1

 

 

Fabrication 1 is an introduction to the metalsmithing studio and fundamental jewelry making techniques! Class fee $250 includes all materials to complete projects, and tools are provided for student use.

Learn introductory metalsmithing and jewelry fabrication skills as you work your way through two sterling and copper projects. You will learn the basics of texturing metal, forming, making jump rings, assembly, sawing, piercing, drilling, filing, mechanical and hand finishing, rivets, clasps, bails and patina. Studio procedures and safety will be covered along with proper tool use and care. Fabrication 1 is a prerequisite to Fabrication 2.

Students may want to bring a notebook for note taking. All tools and materials are provided. Studio attire includes sturdy, closed toe shoes and garments you don't mind getting dirty or an apron. Long hair should be tied back. We have safety glasses but you can bring your own. Bring reading glasses if you need them for close-up work.
Workshops and classes are for students 18 and up. Minors can register with prior approval and parental consent.
