What is Fordite? Also known as Detroit agate, Fordite is old automotive enamel–formed by the buildup of layers of paint on racks that held auto bodies for spray painting–that has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. This industrial waste product has been reclaimed and upcycled into “stones” for jewelry makers!
